Alec Bradley Cigars MAXX Connecticut

Another one of Alec Bradley Cigars' most popular brand families is growing again. I received their Connecticut today to sample and could not wait to try it!

Earlier this year they expanded their highly-acclaimed Family Blend cigars to five vitolas. Appropriately named, Maxx Connecticut, a new Connecticut wrapped series has been added to the Maxx Cigars brand. The word from Alec Bradley was this cigar is the result of customers asking for the Maxx Cigar in the Connecticut.

"We've always been a company that listens to consumers," said Rubin. "After receiving hundreds of requests for larger ring cigars in a smooth Connecticut wrapper, this line bears that out. This is the true “Everyday Cigar.”

The Maxx Connecticut is blended with the same core of Nicaraguan, Colombian, Mexican, and Honduran longfiller tobaccos, and Costa Rican binder as the original Maxx line with a very flavorful Connecticut wrapper leaf grown in Ecuador. The cigars are also rolled to Maxx's characteristic wide body shapes ranging in gauge from 54 to a 60 ring.

"Some minor tobacco percentage changes were made to accommodate for the milder Connecticut wrapper," added Rubin. "The result is a silky smooth, rich tasting cigar that produces copious amounts of creamy smoke."

Maxx Connecticut is presented in the following sizes:
The Fix - 58 x 5"
The Culture - 54 x 6½"
The Freak 60 x 6-3/8"
The Curve 58 x 7" (Torpedo)

I have to say this was a true Connecticut Cigar experience. Right from the start, the taste of the cigar was a smooth Connecticut flavor I was hoping for. As I smoked the Connecticut there were hints of creamy flavor with a nutty, cappuccino flavor mingled in half way through the cigar; and what a smoker maker! The smoke produced was awesome and never let up even near the end of the cigar.

This new Connecticut would definitely be a perfect after breakfast cigar and great for the golf course. I think I would also recommend this one for Bachelor parties and weddings because it would be perfect for a first time smoker to try.

Congratulations Mr. Rubin! This is another great addition to my humidor.

CAO Cigars GOLD Perfecto Cigar

Today was a awesome day and decided to pull out a CAO Gold Perfecto. Have never had one and just got them into the humidor last week. Was told by CAO they were their 10th Anniversary Perfecto at one time and just changed the labeling.

CAO Gold Perfecto Natural cigars, like all CAO premium cigars, are praised for their flavor and fine craftsmanship. The Gold selection features traditional round shapes blended with Nicaraguan long fillers and golden Ecuadorian Connecticut seed wrappers.

Milder in taste than other CAO cigars, with a smooth draw, and mellow aromas of toasted nuts and vanilla in the smoke. A good cigar for introducing yourself to the renowned Ozgener Family of fine premium cigars.

A smoke maker for sure and was a great way to enjoy a break in the afternoon. Share these with buddies on the golf course and they also makes a great bachelor party cigar.

Alec Bradley Cigars MAXX The Freak Cigar

Alec Bradley MAXX cigars represent the apex of big, bold luxury cigars. From their meticulous hand craftsmanship, to their perfectly-balanced fusion of dark, sweet tobacco flavors and sumptuous aroma, MAXX is one helluva smoke. Each MAXX cigar has a creamy, rich-tasting blend of Ligero & Viso tobaccos from Colombia, Nicaragua, Mexico and Honduras with a savory Costa Rican binder, seamlessly rolled in a hearty Nicaraguan Habano wrapper.

I have to say that this is truly one of my favorite cigars in my humidor. I enjoy a larger gauge cigar most of the time and "The Freak" steps up to the plate in size. I have read many mixed reviews on "the Maxx Freak" and some love it and some just don't care for it. Many have told me they are surprised by it's flavor and taste. It is a medium to full bodied smoke in my opinion although looking at it you would think it is all full bodied. I have always had a good burn when smoking one and it is a "smoke maker."

With hints of cocoa and coffee flavors I recommend this as an after dinner smoke. Very enjoyable after a good hearty meal and with a glass of your favorite scotch. Became one of my favorite cigars after I first tried it and was enjoying them so much that when I got our bulldog puppy I named her Maxx, short for Maxxine.

This one is for the experienced smoker and I recommend if you have not tried it, give it a smoke.

Camacho Corojo Diploma 6X60

The Camacho Corojo Diplomat is an eye catching cigar. Very nicely banded and even better is the attractive oily wrapper. This Honduran puro is comprised of the choicest Corojo leaf grown by the Jamastran Valley by Camacho. Once the cigar was lit the draw is very easy and smooth. A great smoke maker I like to say.

This is a complex cigar I thought to myself as I immediately tasted a black peppercorn flavor with a woody undertone that did mellow the more smoke I took up. It was not very easy to pin down the exact flavors as they changed up. There was a sweet flavor to it that floated among woody, leather and pepper flavors. The peppery flavor is never too overwhelming especially after the first couple of inches of smoke. Definitely made my glass of scotch even more enjoyable as I smoked this cigar. The two made a great combination.

As always I enjoy the 6X60 size cigar and this is one that should not be smoked quickly. You do have to respect the size and flavors of this cigar or it will get you lighted headed especially if your not a seasoned smoker. This is a true Cuban Corojo flavored cigar.

An excellent ash maker I would definitely say is worth picking up and adding to your collection of good cigars. I would certainly share this cigar with friends after dinner or at a gathering of cigar men. A great cigar to compare everyone's reaction to it's smoke due to it's many flavors. A very manly cigar in my book.
